About Me
Hi, I'm Lauren. I live in Chicago, and I've been vegan since October 2005. I'm REALLY into cooking, but I love finding restaurants with good vegan food, too. I'm always looking for new tastes and ways of cooking with vegan ingredients.
Some favorite sites of mine:
VegWeb My favorite site for recipes
Vegan Unlimited Tons of vegan products
Veg Cooking Peta's guide to being vegetarian
atomly's vegan travel guide How to eat vegan in lots of different cities
j3n's vegan in chicago guide How to eat vegan in Chicago
veganessentials.com More great vegan products
Other things I'm into: reading, knitting, riding my bike, and costumes. But I'm pretty much down for whatever. :)

Comments
Despite my longstanding appreciation of Lauren's extraordinary talents (tap dancing on the meadow, inspiring fatmess action shots, and making hospitalized children laugh with her dry wit and fusia boa), my love of eating cow leaves me, in the face of Lauren's veagan-transformation, dismayed, defiled, and downright depressed. Repent, O' Lauren! Let the force guide you back to the meat aisle. I know you can do it!

Lauren,
Great recipes, thanks for the tips. I've started making the transition from pescetarian to vegan about a month ago, and I'm finding it harder than I thought. Any advice? I manage pretty well, but then Friday night rolls around and all I want is a big, oozy cheese pizza and soy cheese just doesn't cut it. How do you get through those moments? As a fellow chef, you must know how hard it is to pass up a well-made cheeseboard or a gorgeous peice of tuna. Help!

Liz-
Glad you are enjoying the site! I guess my first piece of advice would be to try pizza without cheese. I never thought it would be any good, but if you know of a place with good sauce and choose flavorful veggies to top it (garlic, artichokes, spinach, mushrooms, etc), you won't miss the cheese! Other than that, I just try to seek out new and interesting foods that I want to try. Without meat/dairy/other animal products to fall back on, I've found that I've discovered a world of foods that I probably never would have tried. Good luck!

Hey Lauren,
just a quick note from London, England (where its raining).....I love your Vegan shirt!!!, very funny (and sexy).
I was just surfing for art work ideas because I'm designing CD album covers for a mate band (he's a producer), and your photo came up in my search in Google images for 'Cuban army shirts', go figure.
Any way, cool site, I may just try your hummus!!!
Andy (London, born New Zealand) Peace.
